Curses, Foiled Again!

A Green Room production
Part of an upcoming Members Weekend

Joint Reading and Auditions will take place this Sunday, 19th May 2019 from 14:00-18:00. We hope you will join us!

A short dramatic comedy by Evelyn Hood

It's the dress rehearsal for Henry's send-up of a Victorian tragedy, but the night is running anything but smoothly as the cast constantly step out of character to bicker. Feuds simmer beneath the surface and the pretty heroine cannot remember her line…

Playhouse Company offer this opportunity for new/less experienced members to build their audition skills and build toward a performing in front of an audience.

The final production will be performed as a members part of a members weekend in mid July... more details to follow!

Our 60th AGM

Thank you to all the members who joined us for our AGM in April.  The meeting was very constructive and saw a new committee appointed, with lots of fresh faces.

Please join us in welcoming:

Lisa Capener - Theatre Liason
Harriet Tarpy - Secretary
Ben Pugsley - Membership
Charlotte Wilson
Jamie Kitson

We're sure the whole membership will join us in thanking our outgoing committee members, Jan Uzzell and Ben Lowater.  Both have served the company with great dedication.  It is impossible to express here the extent of our appreciation!

The Flint Street Nativity

by Tim Firth
directed by David Wheeler
Thurs 14th - Sat 6th & Tues 19th - Sat 23rd November

A festive comedy about kids - for adults.

Mrs Horrocks’ class of seven year olds are about to put on this year’s school nativity play in front of their parents. Amid dropped lines, dropped tunes and telling’s off, backstage politics threatens de-rail the show; Gabriel plans to overthrow the Virgin Mary, King Herod would rather host A Question of Sport and the Innkeeper is determined to liven up the traditional script with a few antics of his own.
The Flint Street Nativity focuses on the hang-ups, worries and petty jealousies of these junior individuals and their brutal attempts to mimic and impress their elders.

Ah the little …”darlings”

Reading and Audition dates will be announced in due course.  However, in the meantime the director David Wheeler is looking for a Production Secretary to join his team.  If you might be interested, please get in touch with us or David.

We have received the following message from Rosalind Loveluck, who asked us to pass it on.  Apologies for the short notice.

Hilary Saxby was a member of the company back in the late 1990’s (she was in ‘Billy Liar’ notably) and sadly passed away on Easter Saturday.  Before she died she made a list of those people and organisations she wanted to know of her death - the Playhouse Company was one of them.   I realise that the membership will look very different know to how it was then, but if there is anyone who remembers her and would like to attend - either for themselves or as a representative of the company - here are the details of the commemorative celebration of her life:

Thursday 16 May:  A celebration of her life at her church - St Philip & James, Grafton Road, Leckhampton - at 12.30pm.  Followed by a get together over food and drink at a nearby hotel.  No flowers and no formal wear - wear colours, not black.  There will be some requests for donations to charities - TBC.
